MEET

MELINDA

I grew up in Dugald, Manitoba, and graduated from Springfield Collegiate Institute (SCI) in Oakbank.

My roots in this municipality run deep, and Springfield has always been home. I have been married to my husband, Layton, for 28 years, and together we have two adult children. For the past 25 years, we have lived on our family farm site, where we have built our life, raised our family, and operated a successful business together for the past 20 years.

Family and community are very important to me. In my free time, I enjoy being outdoors with my family—whether we’re snowmobiling, fishing, kayaking, or simply going for a walk and enjoying everything our municipality has to offer.

For the past four years, I have had the privilege of serving as Councillor for Ward 4. During that time, I have served on numerous committees, gaining valuable knowledge and firsthand experience in municipal government, decision-making, infrastructure, community services, and the issues that matter to Springfield residents.

Being a councillor has also given me the opportunity to connect with people throughout the municipality. I have attended community events across Springfield, listened to residents, supported local organizations and initiatives, and worked to better understand the unique needs of our different communities.

My experience as a lifelong Springfield resident, business owner, parent, and councillor has given me a strong understanding of both where our municipality has been and where we need to go. I am proud to call Springfield home and am committed to helping build a strong, responsible, and sustainable future for our entire municipality.

EXPERIENCED. ROOTED. READY.
